I was injured in an ATV accident in October '06 at Lil Sahara sand dunes in Oklahoma. The accident left me paralyzed from mid abs down. Lookin to get back into racing on my banshee, lt500r, or my yfz450. does anybody know bout airshift kits or possibly how to change from a manual shift to something that is possible for me to ride. Dont want to have to go to a smaller bike or utility. would like to keep riding race or sport quads! any ideas please fill me in open for anythin right now!

I think your best bet would be to try talking to any of the companies that make clutch kits and other transmission parts, could probably help direct you better in what direction to go. Unless you are really good with mix matching parts, you maybe able to take an auto trans from a newer atv and put it on your quad. I'm sure its not much different than like being on vehicles. The best of luck to ya man, hope you can get back out there and ride!!

Hi there.  I know of a company that makes automatic clutch conversion kits.  You could have one of these installed.  To shift you could either have someone fabricate a hand lever to push up or down on the gears.  I have also seen some electronic button shifters.

I know Temecula Motorsports in CA hooked up Ricky Jammes  bike with an electric thumb shifter.  They should be able and tell you how they put that together or who makes the kit.

Ricky is also paralyzed from his chest down.  MX accident.  He raced the Baja 500 on a dirtbike last year.
