I am looking for a name brand 80-110cc youth atv, automatic with reverse. I just bought a Tao Tao 110 and thought it would be a good bike for trail riding for my son. He has been on a Kazuma 50 for 2 years and has out grown it. He wants a utility look atv with racks. If the Yamaha 80 was automatic, it would be perfect. I've heard the Polaris youth is not much better than the Tao Tao type bikes. Any other name brands have a atv with the utlity type look. He's more into trail riding than racing.

rhino,

actually polaris youth atv's are made in taiwan for polaris, so you don't actually come any better than the chinese atv's for quality.

my kids started out on chinese atv's and then i stepped them up to honda's and they are now riding yamaha's.

i thought teaching them to shift gears would be a pain, but actually it was pretty simple.
now they scare me to death watching them ride, because they have gotten so good at riding.

the suzuki ltz90cc is an automatic, and a good machine.
but gears make all the difference in the world.

i think you'd be happier with the grizzly in the long run.

Hi Wolf1

Did you ever got around uploading the manuals for the Chinese ATV? I have an automatic ATV250 Chinese. It ran great for about 3 years. The only problem was the battery keep dying. One of the times charging it by accident I reversed the polarity. About a week later I could not start the Quad. Looks as if there is no spark to the engine and quite possible no current to the sparkp plug. I am not quite sure how to check this. I used an Amp meter with zero reading. Are there service manuals anywhere? Any sugestions what could be going on? Better yet, does anyone know of a repair shop for those things in the Los Angeles/Ventura area.
I want my ATV riding again Help anyone?

I bought one of these a few months ago and since then it has been constant maintence. I've had to replace the chain tensioners with some quality honda tensioners, replaced the front wheel bearings, had to put two washers on the rear swing arm to prevent the body from twisting and making the chain fall off. Had to replace all of the sprocket bolts with quality ones. Had to put red strength lock tight on everything. Buy better kotter keys for everything. My clutch snapped. Just recently broke a tie rod end. Master link on the chain has broken. The headlights have fallen off and tailight have burned out. Other then that its been an ok machine. It is meant for the easiest of easiest trails or dirt tracks.....no mud, no jumps, no ruts, no big bumps.

After reading about all the problems these atv that are made in china are having, I went ahead and bought a used 2007 ARTIC CAT 400 4X4 for my son, and I bought a 2004 HONDA FOREMAN 450 S, NO I DIDN'T WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY I DID, BUT I DON'T WANT TO BREAK-DOWN IN THE WOODS!!!!!!!

OK - I see that there are a LOT of problems with the chinese ATVs. I looked through several threads but haven't found my particular problem, so I'm hoping someone here can offer a solution.

I bought my daughter a 70cc mini-quad (the motor says LONCIN) She drove it around the yard for <10 hours over the course of a few months. I dragged it out of the garage & fired it up this spring and it was running fine. She drove it around for awhile and as I was watching, it just stopped - as if she had hit the kill switch or turned off the key. It would not start again. It's not getting any spark. I took it to a mechanic friend and he went over every wire, kill switch and connection - no luck getting spark to reappear. He put it all back together and it miraculously fired up! While running, he again checked functionality of various kill switches and everything was working fine. It ran & started fine for a couple days, then just as he was planning to give it back to me, NO GO! No spark again! He's given up.

It gets fuel, it turns over fine, battery, spark plug & wire are good (but no spark), all wires and switches have been checked for current and are OK. Is there some sort of module that might be faulty or intermittent? Something that could be checked or replaced? Any suggestions?

When I get it running I will likely sell it & buy a brand name ATV based on what I've read here...

thanks

i come across this quite often, intermittet spark is usually loose wires in the connectors or loose connectors pluging into components. fix is take a small screw driver and push each wire back into the connector, need to do this to all electrical connectors.  second is some single wire connectors have bare terimals and short out when laying next to other wires or connectors, need to wrap these with electrical tape.  third is the safety-brake light switch on the left hand handlebar brake lever, the two wires connecting to the terimals come loose or unpluggged, or sometimes the switch itself sticks.

if you have an extra 7/8 socket and a hand grinder you can make one in about 5 minutes or you can buy one for $20.00.  another option is since these nuts are not overly torqued just use a punch and a hammer to loosen the nut, you can damage the nut this way, if you want to see a couple of pictures of how to make your own nut socket e-mail me luvmysxs@yahoo.com

I'm also replacing the automatic cluch on a 70cc.  Not sure what the small cover does over the cluth, the one that holds the little spring plate about 2 inch in diametor.  Is this to adjust the clutch?  I did not remove the small plate, I just took the whole side cover off to remove the existing clutch. Any suggesting on effective ways to put it back together.

new to the site, have read a lot of treads and I know these bikes are junk, but my son has had his for 3 summers now and we enjoy it alot.  we bought it when my nice bought her TRX90, her's is broken and our is still riding, and of course getting dirty, muddy and scatches from the riding.

I removed the nut by spreading the metal pieces out of the way then with a flat screw driver and a hammer I lossened the nut carefully, not too mush force, just a little at a time until I was able to finish it off by hand.  I bought my clutch on e-bay some site with ROSA as the store name, they were great, same clutch as the one I took off.  will be intalling next week when my son and I can do it together, time for him to start learning if he want to ride.  he is 11.

So far I have been able to go to the two nearby dealers in the area with good fortune. I read on here somewhere that some guys called atvguys.com had parts. I looked didnt see any maybe you have to contact them I dont know. I have heard that some Honda Parts will work too! I have no experience about that yet!
