Well, lets see,  two stroke vs. four stroke, two strokes are almost always faster, line up a YZ450 and a new YZ450F and see who wins.  The blaster has about a 450 lbs weight advantage, plus the 12 year old kids weight advantage over the adult.  my buddy has a RM125 and he raced a YFZ450 the other day and destroyed him, no problem.  and as for "only being able to change sprockets with the PVT"  what are you talking about?  I had a 2000 Scrambler bored, ported, head shaved, aftermarket clutch, piped, all kinds of things.  I'd have whooped a blaster any day, even with the weight advantage.  as for polaris and mudding, ill line up my dad's sportsman 600 with any honda any time.  no locking diff up front on a top of the line "4x4" machine? what a joke.  I'll bet i'd smoke a rincon in a drag on it two, seeing as the rincons are slower than I ever thought.  My dads 600 has had no problems, and he could even keep up with my, much faster, scrambler through the tight trails on it due to the ride comfort.  It has never broken down in the trail like these people say, neither has my moms trail boss.  I had no problem on even the 2x4 trail boss going through places that needed the "dont even try this without four wheel drive signs" to keep people safe.  I'll line up my dads sportsman with any honda utility anytime.  Honda used to be a huge competitor, now it's four wheel drive doesnt keep up with polaris's 300cc machine, and their utility quads are still slow.  All the magazines say the hondas need more power.  and as for which is better for you, go out and ride them both in a real world enviornment, there will always be people on here who talk trash about other brands, I myself own a honda, and love it, but they still have nothing on the polaris's.  Only you can tell which ones better, as its all based on opinion.

plus, when was the last time a honda utility won an ATV of the Year award?  I know the Sportsman 500 won a while ago, the 800 won a couple years ago, the 800X2 won a few, and the list goes on.  Polaris's CEO called out all the other major ATV manufacturers last year or something, and no one even had the cajones to reply.  If Hondas are so tough why wouldn't they line up with Mr. Tiller, and even attempt to show him up.  I forgot the top speed thing, I've ran with a Sportsman 700 EFI up to 68 miles an hour, then we had to back off.  The 450R is the only Honda that'll hit 68.

I would stick with the Honda if i were you.....polaris fourwheelers have a lot of problems after a few rides. I had a polaris 500 back in the day and my grandmother has a polaris 300 and hers isn't even working anymore and it was hardly ever rode. And as for the 500 i dont even want to get started. If your looking for speed you should just get a racing fourwheeler or something, but if your looking for a fast fourwheel drive get a CAN AM they are awesome fourwheelers and great for mudding and trail riding. The outlander 800 will outrun any stock racing fourwheeler just about.

actually i find all kinds of sites that claim other machines won.

in 2007 the yamaha grizzly won atv of year,
in 2006 the suzuki quadracer won atv of the year.
in 2005 the yamaha yfz450 won atv of the year.
so what are you talking about when you say that Polaris won?

i see alot of announcements from polaris themselves claiming they won, but not much from anyone else claiming that polatris won anything.

yes 2 cycle is always faster, but geeze 500cc over a 200cc?  the 500cc would be alot faster if it didn't have the centrifugal pvt clutch.
but polaris thinks it's the greatest invention in the world.

there is no way that a polaris scrambler could keep up with a good 5 speed manual clutch transmission atv.
the pvt transmission eats up 20% of the engines horsepower off the line and is severely limited in it's top end because of it's design and gear ratio.

Wow I just bought a leftover polaris outlaw 500(07). I wish I would of seen this before. My second choice was the suzuki 400. I like the 450 class but Im not motor smart.I know the 450s are based on dirt bike motors. Well back to my outlaw, I see Polaris has I think 1 recall on my 500. The dealer fixed that then. Im still in the break in period. Now when I was looking to buy (about 3 months ago) I read all the reviews and the outlaw seemed to fit. But hearing what you say? Now in the 400 class the Honda is the slowest, but has the most mods. Honda is tough, they are a get on and go machine.
Now my outlaw is fast and well it is fun to drive. But like I said I really wanted the LTZ400. But I just couldnt beat the price I got the outlaw for. Just wanted to talk a second...........Is the outlaw that bad? Does anybody have 1 and what is the top speed?
