I own a 1999 Polaris Sport 400 with the following mods: HotSeat pipe, silencer, clutch kit, 38mm carb, K&N clamp on filter, V-Force Delta 2 reed cage, HotSeat billet head (pump gas), reedcage spacer, front and rear wheel spacers, 20/11/10 turf tammer rear tires and 21/7/10 front tires along with custom front and rear sprockets (# of teeth depends on where and what type of riding I'm doing).

I ride in events called ATV Rodeo's which are basically just small, flat track type obstacle course with tight turns. In the class that I race against I am fairly competitive, but struggle against the Honda 250R's and Suzuki Quadracers that have been modified.I know that they are lighter, handle better, brake better and have a huge aftermarket, but was wondering what I could do to make my Sport edge them out?

My biggest complaint's about the Sport are that it is heavy, sits to high and is very weak in the braking department.Any ideas on how to correct these problems?

Thank's

hunt for a good Brembo brake caliper for the rear.
it will up your braking ability considerably.
but you may have to mod a brembo for another machine.
i know the atk 260 and some of the ktm bikes come standard with Brembo calipers.

as far as weight reduction goes, there's not alot you can do on that end.  polaris started out as a company that made farm tractors so they built your machine and alot of the their other machines with that in mind.  they are inherently overweight.

what sprockets are you running though?
you may be able to pull a little more torque from there.
