hi. i am just about ready to purchase my first atv. i want to be a serious trail rider and from the research i have done, i like the big bear 400 4x4 manual ( i prefer manuals). i dont want to spend an enormous amount of cash but want a good powerful quality machine that will last. is this the best choice for me or does anyone think that another atv around the same price range will be better?

hey, how are you doing?!  i own a 2004 Big Bear 4x4 manual, and it is a great machine.  it has a lot of power and plenty of torque for any person.  i've had the Big Bear completely submerged in mud and she never even complained!  i highly recommend that you get the Big Bear whether it be your first buy or second or whatever.  i hope this helps with your decision.  Later, and have fun!

I have to agree, the Big Bear 400 is a great machine. Especially if you plan on spending much time on muddy trails. Do you plan on riding in mud a lot, or are you just looking to trail ride?
