Recently inherited kodiak, sat up 18 months, tore down carb, cleaned completely, still no throttle response, unless you cover air filter to regulate air, then runs great, will idle, I have moved the needle all the way up and all the way down (notches) no help. Ithink its an air problem (too much)...too lean.. jets are clean, partial choke helps until engine warms up. when full throttle, bogs down, bacfires thru exhaust, and thru air filter........help !!

could be a fuel/air mixture problem. it should set somewhere between 1.5 turns and 3.5 turns.
carb could be clogged as well. take it apart and clean it out. if you need to you can pm me and i can talk ya through it not hard at all.
