I just bought a 06 Dvx 400 the seal behind the front sprocket is blowing out from oil pressure. I have not driven this unit yet!! the dealer says there is too much oil pressure.
Very disappointed, dealer is stumped, Arctic Cat has not replied to my e-mails.
Anyone has the same problem? Any help? I want a new ATV!!

I don't blame ya, i'd want artic cat to fix the problem.
that's why i stay with either suzuki, yamaha or honda. they have been building these things long enough to know what makes em work right.
Polaris lost my business due to numerous factory defects with the new machines i was buying from them. and had nothing but the run around when i brought the machine back due to a defect. i even brought them a printed copy of a recall on one of mine, when it was having problems due to defect and they wouldn't fix it. and the atv was only about a month old. when you spend all that extra money buying a polaris you don't really want it to have serious problems from the factory. you want to be able to get on and ride. I finally sold the polaris atv's i had and bought elswhere. they may have gotten better at building them now, but the first is the deepest so iam done with them.
I haven't tried artic cat yet, (except for the old artic cat mini bike i had as a kid) and honestly probably wont. i know yamaha and suzuki and honda all stand behind their products and wont give you the bums rush when you come in with an issue. they have been sucessful at building and selling quality machines for years and can afford to "make it right" and they don't mind doing it.

well, wolf1, i have read some of your other posts, and you seem to know your way around a fourwheeler, until now, lol.... arctic cat might not be one of the big four, but the DVX400 isn't really an arctic cat, the motor is made by suzuki, and is the LT-z400 motor, hidden underneath a set of plastics made by arctic cat, i own one, and the whole reason i bought an arctic cat is just because of all this, i wanted the reliability of a suzuki, but out of the family of three ATV's with Z400 powerplants, i thought the Z400 was the one with the coolest plastic design. The kawi KFX400, Zuk's Z400, and Cat's DVX400 are all the same bike, with different plastics from each manufacturer. im not trying to be a dick to you, i am actually just informing as many people as i can about this, because even after 5 yrs of the DVX400 being around, you still have to buy parts from everywhere listed as Z400 parts, because not enough people know that these are all the same bikes. so, with that being said, i mean no offense, i was just playin about the until now thing.
as for the real problem at hand, being that you have such a small amount of time on the bike, i would stop e-mailing, and get back to the dealership where you bought the bike at, they should gladly take care of it for you. but! incase they don't... the first ideas that i would start with, is to get a manual, and use it to find all of your oil breather lines, and start checking them to make sure that they are not kinked, they are routed to the right connections, and get an air hose to start blowing them out. how bad is the oil leak? if it is a very minor oil leak, then i would finish breaking the motor in, being sure to constantly check your oil level. and after break-in you may find that your problems are solved, as there will be slightly less compression in a broke-in motor as there is right now. you have to think about what might have cause the problem. it could have been the snot-nosed kid that built your motor, that might have left some plastic wrap on the end of one the hoses when he pushed it on to the connection that it goes on to. or he might have cut that seal when he was pushing it over the sprocket shaft. there are many ways that this couldve been caused, but i would definetely goes speak to the dealer. if they can't help you, then e-mail me, and i can hook you up with a chilton's manual, so you can route the breather hoses, as i dont believe that you should be forced to buy one just because of a bad dealer. my email addy is: Bigdaddychaz2516 @ hotmail. com Your fellow proud Cat owner, Charlie

no perob chaz, i don't go off half cocked... and i also realize that iam only one man in a world of many atv's. even ownig a shop and being a cycle/atv tech for over 20 years i just can't keep every bike in my head. I don't see many of the arctic cats, and most times when i do it's a simple upgrade.
the reason i don't gto with arctic cat or bombardier, is that they haven't been out as long as the big four. and through experience owning newer brands in the past i have learned that for me it's nothing but the big four!!
not knocking the arctic cat they have been around awhile, but i like the big four because they have spent more time building atv's and have it pretty well down.
it's cool that arctic cat uses a suzuki engine!!!
